Sports Day 2016

Last Week, we had Sports Day, which is an exciting opportunity to come together in our house colours and take part in different sporting events. This year, the events were split over three days so that each Key Stage could participate in comfort.

 Outstanding Swimming Achievement

We are delighted to recognise and celebrate the latest achievement in competitive swimming by one of our pupils. Rebecca trains 4 times a week with Bexley Swimming Club, recently qualifying for the Kent County Championships. Following a series of challenging races at the Olympic Swimming Pool in Stratford, she has been ranked first in the whole of the United Kingdom for the girls' under ten 50m freestyle. We congratulate her and wish her well in future events.

Sainsbury’s School Games Level 2 Sticker Competition

Congratulations to our fantastic winners across years 3-6. All the children in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 were given the Sainsbury’s School Games Values to redesign. The top 3 from each class were submitted and after careful, objective scrutiny, the winners from each category were selected.

Sports Leaders

A team of children have been trained by Mrs Allsop from Hurstmere Secondary School to act as Sports Leaders. The selected children spent a day in a workshop, learning special skills to be able to lead games effectively. Then a system was set up whereby the Sports Leaders manage games for KS2 at lunchtimes. This takes place on a rota basis which the Sports Leaders operate, and it has proven to be a great success!
